Overview:

The program has been designed for early to mid-career managers, working in decision-making capacity, and for entrepreneurs managing their own small or medium- sized business ventures.

The programme is spread over 2 years structured into 4 semesters. Summer projects, seminars and workshops are additional and essential features of the EMBA course. The Programme has a futuristic, problem-solving approach for managers, with focus on thorough coverage of key strategic as well as functional aspects of business. A mix of case studies, interactive lectures, business exercises and seminars is used to facilitate learning. A 3-day, 9-hour study week with significant portion of flexible off-contact learning is offered to busy executives keen on improving their skills.



Programme Learning Objectives:

Upon on completion of the EMBA, students will acquire following:

• Enhanced critical thinking & analytical skills for sound managerial decision making & problem    solving.

• Confidence to organize & direct resources including people, finances, materials & information

• Business leadership skills in ethical decision-making, financial planning, quantitative analysis, policy    formulation & interpersonal relationships.

Criteria:

Eligibility Criteria (EMBA)

• Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply.

• The applicants must have obtained at least second division in their Bachelors/Masters degree in any    discipline b

• Experience:

  • After Bachelor’s degree (14 years of education): Minimum 3 years of experience or at least two years proof of income tax payment
  • After Master’s/Professional degree (16 years of education): 2 years experience is required

• The applicant must clear either GMAT or GCUMAT conducted by MSD. GMAT is    conducted by the Education Testing Service, Princeton, NJ, USA. Their website is    www.mba.com. The GMAT educational institution test score receiving code for GCU    Lahore is 7074.

Selection Criteria (EMBA)

Admission will be offered on the basis of weighted score obtained according to the following criteria:

Academic Record:

• Weighted score will be 20%.

• Candidates having 4 years bachelor degree or master’s degree will be given 10 marks for 2nd division and 20 marks for 1st division.

• Candidate having 3 years bachelor degree will be given 5 marks for 2nd division and 10 marks for 1st division.

• EMBA Entrance Test /GMAT: Weighted score will be 30%.

• Entrance Exercise: Weighted score will be 20%.

• Panel Interview: Weighted average will be 30%.

• Candidates having Masters/Bachelor (Four Years) degree will be given 15 marks for 2nd division and 20 marks for 1st division.

• Candidates having Bachelor (Two/Three Years) degree will be given 5 marks for 2nd division and 10 marks for 1st division.

EMBA Entrance Test:

• Weighted average will be 30%

Entrance Exercise & Interviews:

• Weighted average will be 50%

    EMBA Entrance Assessment:

    EMBA entrance assessment is divided into two stages. EMBA entrance assessment follows an evaluation criterion that covers various skills. A clear communication is essential, and it is measured through language skills, verbal and writing skills allowing you to communicate in the best manner. An entrance test is developed to help in assessing and choosing the right candidates. This entrance test is the first stage of our evaluation process.

    Our EMBA programme lays great importance to group work. EMBA also enhances decision-making capabilities, for which analytical skills are imperative, and working in groups and commitment towards goals are under the focus of our assessment criteria. Applicants after being short-listed on the basis of their academic record and EMBA entrance test will be invited to the second stage i.e. group exercises and individual interviews.

    Overall, our assessment criteria, tends to look into learning capabilities, enthusiasm and commitment towards goals and objectives of an individual.

    The University dues (Fee and other dues) must be paid on the dates notified by the University.

    If a student fails to pay his/her dues by the specified date he/she will be fined Rs. 50/- per day.

    In case he/she fails to pay the dues even one week after the last date for payment of dues, his/her name will be struck off the University Rolls and if he/she is allowed re-admission he/she will have to deposit Rs. 6,000/- as re-admission fee.

    For re-admission he/she will submit the application by the date mentioned in the struck off notification. No application will be entertained after the expiry of this date. The excuse of being on leave or absent from the University will not be considered.

    1. What are the admission criteria of EMBA at Management Studies Department (MSD)?


    °Admissions shall be open to both male and female candidates.
    °The applicant must have at least 50% marks in their Bachelor’s degree.
    °The EMBA Entrance Test, Entrance Exercise & Interviews are conducted by the MSD.
    °At least one to two years of work experience is required for candidates applying for EMBA.
    °All the applicants should be currently employed.

    2. From where do I get the EMBA prospectus and the application form?


    Prospectus, EMBA Application form and EMBA Entrance Test Registration form with instruction will be available
    from 9th-25th October, 2005 at:
    United Bank Limited, G.C. University, Branch, Lahore on payment of Rs. 1700/-
    (non-refundable)
    OR
    Online at www.gcumsd.edu.pk.
    Submit the completed form along with a bank draft of Rs. 1700/- (non-refundable) in favour of the Treasure, G.C. University,
    Lahore.

    3- Is there any preference given to GCU Students?


    All the candidates applying for admission will solely be judged on their qualifications and abilities.

    5. Are there any quotas allocated to any region or particular groups of individuals?

    The department does not maintain any policy to admit the candidates on the basis of any quota related to a particular region or demography. Furthermore, no preference will be given on the basis of kinship, NCC or any other privilege during the
    admission process.

    7. Can the credits of another university/college be transferred to MSD? Is migration possible from another university/college to MSD?

    The department has no policy for credit transfer or migration from any other university/college. Each student who wishes to graduate from Management Studies Department at GCU will have to complete the whole two years programme.

    8. Are there any course exemptions given to candidates?

    The MSD does not allow any course exemption to any candidate/student who holds any extra qualification or certificates of attending any management related courses from any institution. Each student has to qualify the EMBA programme in full, which requires qualifying all the courses being offered in the programme.

    9. How frequently does the admission take place for EMBA?


    Admission for the EMBA programme are held once a year in the month of October. Any candidate who wishes to get admission after the programme has started will not be allowed to do so.
