EMBA Overview:

The program has been designed for early to mid-career managers, working in decision-making capacity and entrepreneurs running their own small or medium- sized business ventures. The Programme has a futuristic problem-solving approach with focus on thorough coverage of key strategic as well as functional aspects of business.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of the EMBA, students will acquire following:

· Enhanced critical thinking & analytical skills for sound managerial decision making & problem solving.

· Confidence to organize & direct resources including people, finances, materials & information

· Business leadership skills, ethical decision-making, financial planning, quantitative analysis, policy formulation & interpersonal relationships.

· Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

· Question assumptions and ensure the implementation of solutions

· Emphasize the strategic and competitive imperatives of managing in an international environment

· Learn through teamwork

Eligibility Criteria

· Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply.

· The applicant must have obtained at least 2^nd division in his/her Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in any discipline.

· Experience:

Ø After Bachelor’s Degree (14 years of education), minimum 4 years of experience

Ø After Master’s /Professional Degree (16 years of education), 2 years experience is required

· Applicant should be currently employed

· Satisfactory score in the GMAT or GCUMAT

Curriculum

The EMBA curriculum provides the best General Management skills as a basis for success in business life. The structure of the programme gradually develops the Management Skills needed for analysis and strategic decision-making, and culminates at the EMBA Consultancy Project. EMBA Entrance Assessment:

Our assessment criteria look into enthusiasm, learning capabilities and commitment towards goals and objectives of an individual. The EMBA entrance assessment follows and evaluation criteria that covers various skills. Clear communication is essential and it is measured through language skills, verbal and writing skills. Our EMBA programme attaches great importance to group work. EMBA also enhances decision-making capabilities, for which analytical skills are imperative, as such working in groups and commitment towards goals are the focus of our assessment criteria.

Applicants after being short-listed on the basis of their academic record and EMBA entrance test are invited to the second stage i.e. entrance exercise and individual interviews.

In the first stage candidates are required to make a presentation on the topic of their choice spanning ten (10) to twenty (20) minutes followed by questions and answers session. Their fellow candidates and faculty members raise questions on their presentation. In the second stage the candidate is interviewed by a panel comprising faculty members at MSD. Upon successful completion of this stage candidates are invited along with their boss/supervisor to participate in Boss’s day.

The University dues (Fee and other dues) must be paid on the dates notified by the University.

If a student fails to pay his/her dues by the specified date he/she will be fined Rs. 50/- per day.

In case he/she fails to pay the dues even one week after the last date for payment of dues, his/her name will be struck off the University Rolls and if he/she is allowed re-admission he/she will have to deposit Rs. 6,000/- as re-admission fee.

For re-admission he/she will submit the application by the date mentioned in the struck off notification. No application will be entertained after the expiry of this date. The excuse of being on leave or absent from the University will not be considered.

3 What is the format of GCUMAT?

The format selected for GCUMAT is similar to GMAT with the exception of Essay writing portion. For the purpose of preparation any material selected for GMAT is advisable. GCUMAT is a paper based test

5 What is the institutional code of GCU MSD for receiving GMAT scores?

6 Who can write the reference letter?

Two reference letters have to be attached with the application. One can be filled by any academic. The second should be filled by a professional working in a managerial position or both the reference letters can be filled by professionals

9 What is the program structure?

The first semester will start w.e.f. January 3, 2010. Program structure and academic calendar will be r released in the Open House Session being held Friday, 26^th November, 2010 4.00 pm at PG Auditorium, . G.C. University, Lahore. Please do not forget to attend the Open House.

10 Is there any preference given to Ravians?

No, all candidates applying for admissions will solely be judged on their qualifications and abilities.

11 Are there any quotas allocated to any region or particular groups?

MSD does not maintain any policy to admit candidates on the basis of quota related to a particular region or demography. Furthermore, no preference will be given on the basis of kinship, NCC or any other privilege during the admissions.

12 Can the credits of another university/college be transferred to MSD? Is migration possible from another university/college to MSD?

The Department does not have a policy for credit transfer or migration from any other university/college. Each student who wishes to graduate from Management Studies Department at GCU will have to complete the entire two-year program.

13 Are there any course exemptions given to candidates?

Each student has to qualify the EMBA program in full which requires qualifying all the courses being offered during the two-year time period. MSD does not allow any course exemption to candidates/students holding extra qualification or certificates of management related courses from any institution.

14 Is there any option to get admission on self-financing/supporting basis?

We are an independent department and we admit all students on self-finance. There is no financial aid available for EMBA students.

15 How frequently do the admissions take place for EMBA?

Admissions for the EMBA program are held only once a year. Any candidate who wishes to get admission after the program has started will not be allowed to get admission.

16 What is the Degree requirement?

The student must maintain a CGPA of 2.50/4.00 throughout his/her stay in the EMBA program. Minimum 2.50/4.00 CGPA is required for award of degree.
